    Need taming advice for gecko

I got a baby leopard gecko a couple weeks ago. It's crazy. It squeaks at me, snaps and hisses. It opens its mouth wide like it wants to bite me. Help. I want a good relationship with it. I can handle all my other reptiles, just not this one. Any advice I could try to take it down, so I can enjoy its company, not just its looks.

I was just in the same situation with my new baby, and the best advice to give is to give him plenty of time to settle in and make sure he is eating well. After he has done all of those just set your hand on the tank made with mealworms near it because he will learn itis not a threat and will associate you with food. After that just be persistent in picking him up, and if he wants to bite don't be scared it won't hurt at all and he will learn that it's not a way for him to get away from you. Also, start with short periods of time outside of the cage 10-15 minutes every day at first and then increase the period of time and try to make it in the afternoon maybe around 6. Be sure that every now and then you give him a night off so you dint stress him out.

Thanks. I'll give it a go. He is eating well. He loves small dubias. And he's going potty well. So at least there's that.

It's a baby phase. It doesn't last very long, just work with it and it'll improve. Leos are super friendly
